About

" . . . Thank God I was wrong about everything I had planned. Thank God we weren't on my schedule, because even though I dragged my heels and checked my planner every five seconds while I watched my life change in his hands, I really like the place we've ended up, and the things I've seen along the way. Now, when I think about the future I try to write in pencil . . . " -Shauna Niequist

Hi, I'm Jessica. I'm a newlywed living in central Illinois. I married my husband, Seth, in August of 2010. I started my Masters of Social Work degree in June of 2010, finished classes in May of 2011, and will finish my internship and graduate this December. Social work isn't for everyone, but I truly cannot imagine doing anything else, even on the roughest of days.

I started this blog in the fall of 2008, right before I embarked on a four month internship in Thailand. I used my blog to keep my family and friends up to date on my many adventures and the interesting, unique experiences I had. Once I came back from the other side of the world I didn't want to give up blogging. I really liked documenting my life. So, I changed the title (taken from the title of a chapter in Cold Tangerines by Shauna Niequist) and started blogging about anything my heart desired.

I'm obsessed with details and organization, would rather eat pizza than chocolate, and I'm a Target junkie. I love coffee, reading, and reality television is my guilty pleasure.

It's also important that you know I am aching to own our own place so that I can fully indulge my newlywed nesting urges.

This blog is just a glimpse into my life, from crazy to plain old boring. I certainly don't have this life thing figured out, but I'm sharing every step of my journey.
